Brows frame the face. Thin, uneven or over-plucked brows can make even the most meticulous makeup look incomplete. Microblading has transformed how thousands of women wake up every morning — no more pencils, pomades or stencils. Just beautifully shaped brows that look like they grew that way naturally.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo technique. Using a fine, hand-held tool with ultra-thin blades, pigment is deposited into the upper layers of the skin in the form of tiny hair-like strokes. When done correctly, the individual strokes blend with your real brow hairs to create a look that is almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
Unlike traditional cosmetic tattoos — which use a machine and sit deeper in the skin — microblading is hand-drawn, more superficial, and specifically designed to fade over time for ongoing natural results.
Who is it for?
- Anyone with over-plucked, sparse or thin brows
- People with uneven brow shape or asymmetry
- Clients who want to save time on their daily routine
- Those with alopecia, chemotherapy-related hair loss or trichotillomania
- Active women who don't want their brows to run or smudge
How does the appointment work?
Your first session is around 2 hours. Most of this time is spent on the consultation and mapping — we measure your face, study your bone structure, and draw the ideal shape on your skin. Nothing is tattooed until you approve the shape.
Once you are happy, topical anaesthetic cream is applied, and the actual strokes take 45 to 60 minutes. A second touch-up session is included 6 to 8 weeks later to perfect the colour and fill in any strokes that didn't hold.
The healing journey
Healing happens in stages, and knowing what to expect prevents unnecessary worry:
- Days 1-3: Brows look bold and dark. They are not this colour forever.
- Days 4-7: Light flaking and scabbing. Do not pick — it will pull out pigment.
- Days 8-14: Brows look lighter, even patchy. This is normal — the pigment is settling.
- Weeks 4-6: True colour emerges. Any small gaps are perfected at your touch-up.
Aftercare essentials
Proper aftercare is what separates beautiful brows from patchy ones. For the first 7 to 10 days:
- Keep brows completely dry for 7 days — no sweating, swimming or washing the face directly
- Apply the healing balm provided — thin layer only
- No makeup on the brows
- No saunas, hot yoga, or sunbeds
- Sleep on your back if possible
How long does microblading last?
Most clients enjoy their microbladed brows for 1 to 3 years before they need a colour refresh. How long it lasts depends on your skin type (oily skin holds less pigment), sun exposure, skincare products (retinols and acids fade pigment), and lifestyle.
Choosing your artist
This is not an area to price-shop. Microblading is permanent in the sense that even as the colour fades, the placement decisions your artist makes will be with you for years. Always ask to see healed results (not just fresh work), check credentials, and make sure the clinic is clean, licensed and insured. Your face is worth it.
