Lip fillers have become one of the most requested aesthetic treatments in the UK — and for good reason. When performed by a trained practitioner, they can create beautifully balanced, natural-looking results that complement your face rather than transform it. At Dilek Kala Aesthetic & Beauty in Enfield, we believe in subtle enhancements that feel like you, only refreshed.
What exactly are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are injectable gels made primarily from hyaluronic acid — a sugar molecule your body already produces naturally to keep tissue hydrated and plump. Because hyaluronic acid is biocompatible, reactions are rare, and results are fully reversible if you ever change your mind.
The gel is carefully injected into specific areas of the lips to add volume, improve symmetry, define the border, or hydrate dry, thinning lips. The goal is never to over-fill — it is to bring out what is already there.
Your consultation: the most important step
Before any treatment, you will have a detailed consultation. We discuss your goals, examine your natural lip shape, and talk through any concerns. This is also when we review your medical history and explain what is — and is not — achievable in a single session.
A good practitioner will never push you toward more product than you need. If your goals require a staged approach over two or three appointments, we will be honest about that.
What happens during the treatment?
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for around 20 minutes to keep you comfortable. The injection itself takes 15 to 20 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a small pinch followed by mild pressure — the topical anaesthetic cream, combined with lidocaine built into the filler, keeps discomfort minimal.
What to expect afterwards
- Immediately: Your lips will look fuller and slightly swollen. This is normal.
- Days 1 to 3: Mild swelling and possible small bruises. Arnica cream helps.
- Week 1: Swelling settles, and your true result begins to show.
- Week 2 onwards: The filler has fully integrated. This is your final look.
Aftercare essentials
For the first 24 hours, avoid touching, massaging or applying makeup to your lips. Skip the gym, hot showers, alcohol and saunas for 48 hours — anything that raises your body temperature can increase swelling. Sleep slightly elevated for two nights to minimise overnight puffiness.
How long do lip fillers last?
Most hyaluronic acid lip fillers last between 6 and 12 months, depending on your metabolism, the product used, and how much was injected. Clients who stay well hydrated, avoid excessive sun exposure and do not smoke generally see longer-lasting results.
Is it right for you?
Lip fillers suit anyone over 18 in good general health who wants more defined, balanced or hydrated lips. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain autoimmune conditions, we will recommend waiting. The best way to know if it is right for you is to book a no-obligation consultation — we will give you an honest, personalised recommendation.
